With my 20 million online followers, we will defeat APC – Funke Akindele.
Nigerian actress and Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state, Funke Akindele, has boasted in a statement that with the aid of her 20 million followers online, she can win the election for her party easily in the 2023 general election.
She stated this while featuring as a guest on Channels TV programme, Politics Today on Thursday, July 14, 2022.
However she later admitted that it might not be enough, but would be a solid rock and grass-roots encouragement. And her followers would come out en mass to support her.
Akindele said; “He (Mr Sanwo-Olu) has the numbers, I have the numbers. I have fans and followers. I’m true to myself. I have over 19 to 20 million fans on social media.
“There are a lot of people in the grassroots. Outside of Ikorodu, I have fans at the grassroots level everywhere.
I have these fans and followers. I feel their pain. I hear people nag. I watch TV; I feel their pain. I’m going out there to proffer solutions.”
