‘Omo Ghetto’ now officially the highest grossing Nollywood movie ever
Funke Akindele-Bello and JJC Skillz’ debut film “Omo Ghetto (The Saga)” has been named Nollywood’s highest-grossing movie of all time.
The 2020 comedy movie shattered a four-year record held by Kemi Adetiba’s 2016 movie “The Wedding Party“, after grossing over N468,036,300 after three straight weeks of retaining the number one spot according to a statement published by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN).
“The Wedding Party” on the other hand has raked in N453,000,000 while its sequel “The Wedding Party 2” took the third spot with N433,197,377.!
The movie which features Funke Akindele in the dual role of Ayomide and Lefty, Tina Mba, Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello, Chioma Akpotha, Bimbo Thomas, Eniola Badmus, Deyemi Okanlawon, Zubby Michael, Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson, Alex Ekubo was released on December 25, 2020.
It is a sequel to 2010 trilogy ‘Omo Ghetto’ and follows the chaotic life of Shalewa aka Lefty (Funke Akindele).
