With flooding and destruction from climate change now ravaging Nigeria, an additional 20% of it’s population fell in abject poverty by the second quarter of 2022.
A former presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress, Kingsley Moghalu has explained why over 100 million Nigerians live in poverty.
The business man via his Twitter page said many Nigerians live in poverty as a result of fraud, corruption and sheer criminality.
According to him, the major link of those crimes which lie in the petroleum industry and the forex market are managed by government institutions.
“Fraud, corruption and sheer criminality is the biggest reason why 100 million Nigerians live in poverty.
“The biggest sources of these crimes lie in the petroleum industry and the forex market, both managed by government institutions,” he wrote.
