Tiwatope Savage was born 5 February 1980 in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. She was just 11 years of age when her parent moved to the United Kingdom then the United States. The inter migration offered her the opportunity to experience a multicultural setting.

Music Career

She had passion for music even at a very tender age. While attending high school, Tiwa Savage was a trombone player in her school’s orchestra band.

Her music career didn’t start right after graduating with a degree in Business administration from the University of Kent, however, she never put her dream aside of becoming a big music star someday. Savage got a job and began working at The Royal Bank of Scotland. But she engaged in musical activities and lent vocals to notable musicians such as Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli, etc.

Returning back to Nigeria to do music was the hardest decision Tiwa had to make. Coping with the Nigeria’s musical style and manner, was a bit of a challenge. With a male-dominated industry, Savage was facing lots of challenges. She even revealed that those close to her attempted to discourage her from settling in the country. Tiwa Savage kills any song whenever she’s in. In 2017 she collaborated with Reekado Banks on “Turn It Up”, which was produced by Don Jazzy. Under Marvin Records, she had a collaboration with Don Jazzy, Dr SID, D’Prince, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Di’Ja in the hit banger “Dorobucci,” released on May 1, 2014.
