An unidentified man on Sunday July 3rd, wearing a turban on his face, caused a mass hysteria and fear on people’s mind at a catholic church in Abuja, when he drove into the church premises without caution.
The man, suspected to be a terrorist drove a car into Archangel Raphael Catholic Church, Garki, Abuja, on Sunday.
In a video making the rounds online, a lady narrated how the man stormed the church and gave conflicting accounts about his mission and identity when he was apprehended by the church worshippers.
The man wore a hat with the inscription ‘POLICE” as well as a faded suspected US Army- type camouflage trousers. He also drove a silver-coloured Peugeot 406 with an Abuja number plate; BWR-417HF.
This was a report from an eye witness….
“This is just happening here right now, a terrorist entered my church Archangel Raphael Catholic Church, Garki, Abuja, Police Barracks. He dressed up in a turban, a police face cap and dark shades. He drove to where the men were having a meeting. We were shouting for him to stop. So we raised an alarm that people should come out and stop him and they stopped him.
Upon interrogation, he said he was here to see somebody but the person he claimed he came to see said he did not know him. The suspect added that he hailed from Abia and when we asked him what part of Abia, he could not say. He proceeded to reveal his relatives were from Ethiopia. So we asked him, what are you doing dressed like this? he couldn’t provide a reasonable answer.
He said he was going to call the Inspector General of Police. We saw some things in his car, drugs and some other items.”
In this uncertain times in Nigeria and the world, we should try as much as possible to remain vigilant.
