Oscar Winning Screenwriter Paul Haggis detained in Italy for sexual assault
According to a recent report statement from the local prosecutor in Italy, the renowned writer and director Paul Haggis has detained in Italy for aggravated sexual assault and injury.
According to the report, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the 70 years old Canadian who resided in Ostuni, a tourist town in the southern Italian region of Puglia.
The 70 years old Canadian-born director and screenwriter, Paul, who won two Oscars for the 2004 crime drama “Crash,” was in the country to attend a film festival that begins Tuesday in Ostuni, a tourist town in the southern Italian region of Puglia.
It was stated that Paul Haggis inflicted injuries sexually on a young foreign woman.
Haggis’ lawyer in Italy, Michele Laforgia, said in a press statement Sunday: “Paul Haggis is currently in Ostuni, at his home, under ‘detention’ by order of the Public Prosecutor of Brindisi, as currently they are waiting for a summon by the judge.
