Who is Mayorkun?

Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel popularly known as Mayorkun is a fast rising Nigerian singer, songwriter, entertainer and a recording artiste. He was born on 8th April 1994 in Osun State. A south western part of Nigeria into the Adewale family. He is currently 26 years old.

As we mentioned earlier, Mayorkun is a super talent. He rose to stardom following the release of his hit single “Eleko”. His father is a professional musician while his mother, Toyin Adewale is a popular Nigerian Yoruba movie actress while his uncle, Segun Adewale is a musician.

Schools and education

Mayorkun went to Living-Spring Montessori in Lagos, Nigeria where be acquired his First School Leaving Certificate. On finishing his primary school education, Mayorkun proceeded to Hi Grade College in Lagos, Nigeria where he took his West African Senior School Certificate exams.

He furthered his higher education at the University of Lagos and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. After completing his university education and National Youth Service (NYSC), Mayorkun got a job with a reputable bank.

Mayorkun went into music professionally in 2014 after quitting his bank job and got signed on the same day into Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) record label owned by Davido. Mayorkun was signed to the record label following a viral video of him singing to Davido’s song which the singer saw online.

Since signing for DMW, Mayorkun’s consistency is close to no other. He has gone ahead to drop dishing back to back hits. His first ever hit song “Eleko” produced by Puffy Tee had over one million YouTube views on the first week of the video release.

In an interview, Mayorkun revealed that, 2face Idibia, Pasuma and King Sunny Ade are his role models in the music industry. Mayorkun has released hit singles like Eleko, Back 2 Back, Alele, Mama, Love You Tire, Prayer, Tonight, Yawa, Touch Down, Che Che, etc.
