Pete Edochie is a top Nigerian actor who initially was a broadcaster in a broadcasting corporation at age 20 before deciding to go into the movie industry. He became very famous in 1980 after his lead role in Chinua Achebe’s “Things Fall Apart”. The movie was a screen adaptation of the book in that year.

Pete Edochie was born on March 7, 1947 in Enugu, Nigeria. Edochie is a native of Anambra State, Nigeria. He grew up in Zaria, Kaduna. He began his primary education at St. Patrick’s and St. James Primary School, Zaria. Before proceeding to St. John’s College for secondary education. Subsequently, Edochie attended the School of Journalism and Television in England and also did some courses overseas.
On completing his secondary education, before migrating to England to study, Edochie worked with Nigerian Railway Corporation. Then after school, he got into broadcasting in 1967.
He kicked off his career at very young age when he got into the broadcasting corporation. He began as a junior program assistant but was later promoted to the position of director where he acted in different directorial capacities. However, he had to leave the radio station and joined Nollywood because the Nigerian government opted to politicise the affairs of the radio station.
